Nishimura Junji is directing the anime at Zero-G and Lieber studios, and the anime will star Touyama Nao as Marie and Ishiya Haruki as Arthur. Pony Canyon described the anime’s story below:
“Once a genius martial artist, Marie is a human girl who now hides her identity and works undercover as a “mechanical maid” in the mansion of Arthur, the heir to a powerful conglomerate who despises humans.
—If her true identity is discovered, it’s instant execution!?
Taking advantage of her naturally expressionless face, Marie flawlessly fulfills her duties as a “mechanical maid” while secretly protecting Arthur from the assassins constantly targeting his life. But things get complicated when the smitten Arthur, who dotes on Marie, comes dangerously close to discovering her secret! Every day is a nerve-wracking mix of thrills and close calls!”

The anime is based on Akimoto Aki’s Kikaijikake no Marie romantic comedy manga. Akimoto (Mairimashita to Iwasetai) started the manga in March 2020 as a one-shot manga, and from June 2020 to June 2023, the manga was serialised in Hakusensha’s Lala magazine. Hakusensha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in December 2020 and the sixth and final volume in September 2023.
The Kikaijikake no Marie manga is published in English by Yen Press under the name Mechanical Marie, and it will release the first volume on August 16th, 2025. Yen Press describes the manga below:
“He was a boy. She was a robot. Well…not really. In all actuality, Marie is completely, totally 100% human, but because her strange new employer seemingly despises humans, the powers-that-be are paying a handsome sum for her to pretend she’s the latest and greatest android while protecting said eccentric master from the seemingly endless attempts on his life. Which is fine, but they forgot to mention one tiny, seemingly insignificant detail-this dude absolutely dotes on inanimate objects like Marie can’t believe. She’s not sure what will kill her first, the assassins or his affections…?”
