Kadokawa will release the final novel in the award-winning Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari (Requiem From Darkness/Hundred Stories) series by Kyougoku Natsuhito. The novel Owari no Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari will be the seventh novel in the series and will be released on June 19th, 2024.
Kyougoku started the novel series with Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari in Kadokawa’s Yokai magazine in 1997, and Kadokawa published the first novel in 2003.

The third novel, Nochi no Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari, won the 130th Naoki Sanjūgo Award in 2003. The fifth novel, Nishi no Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari, won the 24th Renzaburo Shibata Award in 2011, and the series’ sixth novel, Touku no Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari, won the 56th Eiji Yoshikawa Literary Award in 2022.
Due to their popularity, the novels inspired three live-action adaptations in 2000, 2005, and 2006 and a TV anime adaptation that aired in 2003. The novel series also received a manga adaptation by Hidaka Tateo with four tankoubon volumes.
