Kumano Chihiro is directing the anime at Blade, and the anime will star Komatsu Mikako as Arwin and Suwabe Junichi as Mathew.
Kadokawa published Shirogane’s first novel, illustrated by Mashima Saki, in February 2022 and the fifth novel in September 2023. Yen Press publishes the novel series in English under the name The Kept Man of the Princess Knight and will release the fourth novel on April 1st, 2025. It describes the story below:
The Dungeon City is a wicked place filled with crime, debauchery, and death. Its one shining light is Arwin, the beautiful Crimson Princess Knight. She and her brave party of adventurers descend into the dungeon at the city’s centre, seeking a legendary treasure with the power to rebuild the princess’s fallen kingdom. Many yearn to be by her side, but that spot is already taken by Matthew, a man despised by all in town as a cowardly weakling. Everyone thinks he is scum who just spends her hard-earned money on booze, women, and gambling. No one in the city—not even the princess knight— knows what Matthew is truly capable of.
Keyyang adapted the light novel series into a manga in September 2022 in Kadokawa’s Comic Walker magazine. Kadokawa published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in February 2023 and the third volume in December 2024. Yen Press also publishes the manga in English, and it released the second volume in December 2024.
