The educational manga Kagaku Manga Survival (Science Manga Survival) has been green-lit for a TV anime adaptation. Asahi Shimbun announced the news this week, with further details to be revealed later.
The manga and study book series started in 2008 and originated in South Korea by Gomdori Co. and illustrator Hyun-Dong Han. As of January 2024, Asahi Shimbun has published 85 manga volumes, and there are 14 million copies in circulation in Japan. The series follows children in various adventurous situations while weaving information about science into the story.
Some manga books have been released in English by No Starch Press under Survive! Inside the Human Body.
The manga inspired a 100-second animated video in March 2019, and two anime film adaptations by Toei Animation titled Jintai no Survival (Survive! Inside the Human Body) in July 2020 and Shinkai no Survival! (Survive! In the Deep Sea) in August 2021.
