The official website for Gotoubun no Hanayome*, the latest anime special in Haruba Negi’s Gotoubun no Hanayome (The Quintessential Quintuplets) franchise, confirmed that the anime will have a limited three-week theater screening in Japan from September 20th, 2024, before it begins airing on TV. A new teaser visual for the anime was also revealed this week.
Jinbo Masato (Eiga Gotoubun no Hanayome) is directing the anime at Bilbury Animation Studio, and Haruba (Sentai Daishikkaku) personally drafted the original story concept for the anime special and supervised all aspects of the anime, which recounts Fuutarou and the quintuplets’ honeymoon trip.
The anime special is based on Haruba’s original Gotoubun no Hanayome manga, which began in August 2017 and ended in February 2020. Haruba serialized the manga in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine, and Kodansha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in October 2017 and the final volume, number 14, in April 2020. The manga has inspired TV anime adaptations, anime specials, OVAs, visual novels, and anime movies. The franchise will also be getting a light novel book based on the manga.
