For years, there have been ghost stories in the white dorm about a cleaning lady who fell into a toilet and drowned. Even today, it is said that on some nights you can still hear her restless spirit gasping for air in the corridors.
Sudri also witnesses this phenomenon. She had just left her room when she heard the panting and gasping in the empty corridor.
Is this really the wandering ghost of the cleaning lady or is someone playing a prank on her? After all, all the students are in their rooms and asleep. Sudri shouldn't be out at this time of night. On the other hand, she has something urgent to do and can't turn around now. If necessary, she will have to defend herself - but how do you defend yourself against a ghost? Can you beat ghosts? Perhaps diplomacy would be the solution. Maybe you can talk to the ghost about its problems or something along those lines...
The noises are getting louder. Something is approaching Sudri.
“H-hello?” She calls cautiously into the dark hallway, but apart from the heavy breathing, there is no answer.
Diplomacy has failed. We switch to attack!
But before Sudri can unleash her violent side, a student emerges from the darkness.
“Uff-uff... S- Sudri... Uff-uff... H-Hello...”
Sudri doesn't know the girl, but she seems to be familiar with hers.
“G-good evening... What are you doing?” Sudri looks at the huge bag the student is carrying. It's at least twice her height and seems to be correspondingly heavy. No wonder she's so out of breath.
“Uff-uff... Ha...” the girl slowly seems to be able to talk properly again.
“Sorry, I don't think we've ever spoken before. My name is Emma Hearthwell, I live in the yellow dorm.”
That's why the student didn't look familiar to Sudri, but then what is Emma doing in the white dorm?
“Nice to meet you Emma... Um... What are you doing here and what is... that?” She points to the huge bag Emma is dragging along the floor.
“Oh, that...” The student looks at the bag with a wistful expression. She clearly has no strength or desire to continue with the transport.
“It's part of my project work - oh, but the professor told me not to tell anyone about it, sorry!” Emma gives Sudri an exhausted smile.
“Project work? From which professor?”
Perhaps from Professor Wagner?
“I'm afraid I'm not allowed to tell you.”
“And where do you want to go?”
“I'm not allowed to tell you that either.”
“And when does it need to be done by?”
“That- I think I can tell you that, can't I...?” Emma looks thoughtful, as if she's trying to reach the depths of her memories.
“Anyway, I have to deliver this today. So I really must get going!”
Emma's grip on the bag tightens again and she continues her arduous journey.
“Uff-uff...”
“E-Emma, can I help you with that?”
Sudri doesn't really have time for this, but the sight of Emma is unbearable.
“N-no, I'm fine. If Professor Wagner finds out that I've been helped, I might not get any extra points. Uff-uff...”
And that's when Emma disappears into the darkness of the night again. The only thing that remains is the panting sound of an old woman drowning.
Sudri adjusts her glasses:
“Professor Wagner, huh...”
According to Emma, today is the deadline. So that means that Cyril's request for the project work is probably too late. Hopefully he has approached Professor Wagner about it anyway. Sudri and Cyril had already decided to ask the professor about a project assignment weeks ago, but Cyril, as expected, forgot about it.
Hopefully he was seeing the professor... Otherwise we could really be too late...
She will probably only find out tomorrow whether it worked out. She directs her steps in the direction Emma came from and also disappears into the darkness.
