A fourth anime movie has been announced for the Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) franchise. The news was announced during the Jump Festa 24 event, confirming that the movie would debut in the summer of 2024. A new visual for the upcoming film has also been revealed.

While not much else is known about the fourth movie, staff for the franchise have confirmed that Horikoshi Kouhei, the manga’s author, will serve as the general supervisor and designer of the original characters.

The franchise has previously had three movies. The first movie was Boku no Hero Academia, the Movie: Futari no Hero (My Hero Academia: Two Heroes), which opened in Japan in July 2018. The second movie, Boku no Hero Academia, the Movie Heroes: Rising (My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising), opened in Japan in December 2019. Boku no Hero Academia THE MOVIE World Heroes’ Mission (My Hero Academia The Movie: World Heroes’ Mission) was the franchise’s third movie to hit Japanese cinemas in August 2021. This new instalment will have an original story that will take place around the same time as the events of the 7th season of the anime.

The anime and movies are based on the original manga by Horikoshi Kouhei, which was launched in July 2014 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump magazine.
