Square Enix has confirmed that Jinushi’s Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari (Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You/ スーパーの裏でヤニ吸うふたり) manga will be adapted into a TV anime, which will premiere in 2026 on the TBS channel. Manga author Jinushi has released an illustration to celebrate the anime news.

Jinushi (Rokurei) started the romance comedy manga in March 2022 on Twitter, and it began serialisation in Square Enix’s Big Gangan magazine in August 2022. Square Enix published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in August 2022, and it will release the manga’s seventh volume on July 25th, 2025.
The manga is released in English by Square Enix Manga & Books, Manga Up! Global and Comikey. Square Enix Manga & Books releases the manga volumes in English, digitally and in print, under the name Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You. It will publish the fifth volume on August 12th, 2025 and the sixth volume on January 20th, 2026.

“At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can’t find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he’s made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn’t realise he already knows her!”
