The anime’s first season premiered in Japan in April 2024 and was streamed worldwide by Disney+. The anime’s official website confirms that Satou Keiichi (Tiger & Bunny) will return as director for the second season at Yostar Pictures studio, and it describes the story for the new season below:
In order to put an end to his life of constant defeats, D sets out to defeat the Great Sentai by himself. Disguised as Sakurama Hibiki, a low-ranking Combatant D of the evil monster army, D successfully passes the entrance exam! The real infiltration of the Great Sentai begins! Although monster executive Pertrola hinders him, he succeeds in defeating the Blue Keeper. D is assigned to the Green Unit, which carries out top-secret missions, and of course, his next target is the Green Keeper! Meanwhile, doubts are rising within the Great Sentai after they lose the Blue Keeper, and they are gradually losing the trust of the general public – the second season finally begins, with the darkness of the Great Sentai approaching!
The anime is based on Haruba Negi’s Sentai Daishikkaku manga. Haruba (Gotoubun no Hanayome) started the ongoing manga in February 2021 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine, and Kodansha released the manga’s first tankoubon volume in April 2021. The most recent volume, number 17, was published on January 17th, 2025.
