Staff for the Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals (My Hero Academia: Vigilantes/ ヴィジランテ -僕のヒーローアカデミア ILLEGALS-) TV anime have confirmed that the anime’s second season will premiere in January 2026, and they have revealed a new visual for the anime.

The anime’s first season premiered in April 2025, and all 13 episodes can be streamed on the Crunchyroll website. Crunchyroll describes the anime’s story below:

“Koichi Haimawari is a dull college student who aspires to be a hero but has given up on his dream. Although 80% of the world’s population has superhuman powers called Quirks, few are chosen to become heroes and protect people. Everything changes for Koichi when he and Pop☆Step are saved by the vigilante Knuckleduster and get recruited to become vigilantes themselves!”

Suzuki Kenichi (Hataraku Saibou, JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken) directed the anime’s first season at BONES FILM studio. The anime starred Umeda Shuuichirou as Kouichi Haimawari, Hasegawa Ikumi as Pop Step, and Mamiya Yasuhiro as Knuckleduster.

The anime is based on the Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals manga by Furuhashi Hideyuki and Betten Court. Furahasi and Betten started the manga in August 2016 in Shueisha’s Shounen Jump GIGA magazine. It was then relaunched in December 2016 on Shueisha’s Shounen Jump+ platform until it ended in May 2022. Shueisha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in April 2017 and released the 15th and final volume in July 2022.

The Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals manga is a spinoff of Horikoshi Kouhei’s Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) manga series. Horikoshi (Oumagadoki Zoo and Sensei no Baruji) started the Boku no Hero Academia manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump in July 2014 and ended it in August 2024. Shueisha published the manga’s first volume in November 2014; the final volume, number 42, was published in Japan on December 4th, 2024.

The eighth and final season of the Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) anime adaptation will premiere on October 4th, 2025.

Viz Media released the spinoff manga in English under the name My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, and the original manga under the name My Hero Academia. It describes the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes manga story below:
