The official website for the Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari (Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You/ スーパーの裏でヤニ吸うふたり) TV anime has revealed a new teaser promotional video and visual for the show. The teaser video confirms that the anime will premiere in July 2026 on TBS and 27th other channels.

The anime will be produced at Asahi Productions, and it will star Satou Takuya as Sasaki and Hoshiki Seena as Yamada/Tayama.
The anime is based on Jinushi’s Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari manga. Jinushi (Rokurei) started the romance comedy manga in March 2022 on Twitter, and began serialisation in Square Enix’s Big Gangan magazine in August 2022. Square Enix published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in August 2022 and the manga’s seventh volume in July 2025. The manga’s eighth volume will be released on January 23rd, 2026.
The manga is released in English by Square Enix Manga & Books, Manga Up! Global and Comikey. Square Enix Manga & Books releases the manga volumes in English, digitally and in print, under the name Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You. It will publish the manga’s sixth volume on January 20th, 2026.

“At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can’t find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he’s made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn’t realise he already knows her!”
