Akatsuki Games is developing and releasing the game, which will be available via Apple’s App Store, Google Play, and Steam.
The game is inspired by the Kaiju No. 8 anime, which premiered in Japan on April 13th, 2024, and is directed by Miya Shigeyuki at Production I.G. and Studio Khara. The anime can be streamed on Crunchyroll, and it describes the show.
In a world plagued by creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in The Defense Force. He makes a promise to enlist with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Soon, life takes them in separate ways. While employed cleaning up after Kaiju battles, Kafka meets Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s determination to join The Defense Force reawakens Kafka’s promise to join Mina and protect humanity.
The anime itself is an adaptation of the ongoing Kaiju No. 8 manga by Matsumoto Naoya, which began serialization in July 2020. Shueisha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in December 2020 and the 12th volume in April 2024. The 13th volume will be released on July 4th, 2024.
