The Koukaku Kidoutai – The Human Algorithm (Ghost in the Shell: The Human Algorithm) manga by Fujisaku Jun’ichi and Yoshimoto Yuki will end with the release of its eighth tankoubon volume in 2025. The news was confirmed with the release of the manga’s seventh volume on November 20th, 2024.
Fujisaku and Yoshimoto started the manga in September 2019 in Kodansha’s Young Magazine, and Kodansha published the manga’s first volume in April 2020. Kodansha USA Publishing releases the manga in English and it published the fourth volume in January 2024.
The manga is a sequel to Shirow Masamune’s Koukaku Kidoutai 1.5: Human-Error Processer (Ghost in the Shell 1.5: Human-Error Processor) manga from 2003. Both stories are spinoffs of Shirow Masamune’s original Koukaku Kidoutai (The Ghost in the Shell) manga, which ran from May 1989 to November 1991 in Kodansha’s Young Magazine. The manga inspired various anime, live-action shows, manga spinoffs, and video game adaptations.
