The staff for the Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai (カヤちゃんはコワくない /Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary) TV anime has revealed its first promotional video and revealed some of the cast.

Ikehata Hiroshi is directing the anime at East Fish Studio, and the anime will star Tachibana Azusa as Kaya-chan and Uchida Maaya as Chie-sensei.
The anime is based on the Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai manga by Yuri Tarou. Yuri started the horror manga in April 2022 on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website, and Shinchosha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in August 2022 and the sixth volume in November 2024. The manga’s seventh volume will be released on June 9th, 2025.
Seven Seas Entertainment releases the manga in English under the name Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary, and it will release the manga’s second volume on July 15th, 2025. Seven Seas describes the manga below:
“Kaya-chan is a notorious problem child in her kindergarten, but none of the adults know her secret–till Chie-sensei is put in charge and learns of Kaya-chan’s hidden ability to see evil spirits and vanquish them with a punch! What will happen to this five-year-old who gets in trouble when she’s only trying to help?”
