Staff for the TV anime 3-Nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei (Class 3-Z’s Teacher Ginpachi/ 3年Z組銀八先生) have revealed a new promotional video trailer and confirmed that the anime will premiere on October 6th, 2025, at midnight (effectively October 7th) on TV Tokyo and its affiliated channels.

Higashida Natsumi is directing the anime at BN Pictures, and returning cast members from the original Gintama anime include:
- Suguta Tomokazu as Ginpachi Sakata
- Sakaguchi Daisuke as Shinpachi Shimura
- Kugimiya Rei as Kagura
- Yukino Satsuki as Tae Shimura
- Chiba Susumu as Isao Kondo
- Suzumura Kenichi as Sogo Okita
- Ohta Tetsuharu as Sagaru Yamazaki
- Kobayashi Yuu as Ayame Sarutobi
- Koyasu Takehito as Shinsuke Takasugi
- Hino Satoshi as Kamui
The anime is based on the 3-Nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei (銀魂 3年Z組銀八先生 ) light novel series by Oosaki Tomohito (Occultalk!, Naruto: Sakura’s Story). The novel is a spin-off of Sorachi Hideaki’s Gintama manga.
Oosaki’s spin-off novel series was first published in 2006, and Shueisha published the latest novel in December 2024. The series will get a new novel on October 3rd, 2025, titled Oide yo Rinkan Gakkou (Going on a School Camp).
The 3-Nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei novels are set in Gintama High School and follow the school’s teacher, Ginpachi Sakata, and his students. Excerpts of the novel were previously animated as shorts at the end of several episodes of the Gintama anime series.
The original Gintama (銀魂 ) manga started serialisation in 2003 and ended in June 2019. Shueisha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in April 2004 and the 77th and final volume in August 2019. Viz Media has published the first 23 manga volumes of the original Gintama manga in English, under the name Gin Tama.
The manga has also inspired several anime series, three anime films, two live-action films, and two live-action spin-offs.
