The official website for the TV anime Kijin Gentoushou (Sword of the Demon Hunter) released the anime’s first promotional video and confirmed that the show will premiere on March 31st, 2025.

The anime was initially planned for release in July 2024, but due to production delays, it was re-scheduled for release in 2025. The anime will now premiere its one-hour special episode on March 31st, 2025, on the Tokyo MX channel, and it will then air on BS Fuji and the MBS channel on April 1st, 2025.
Aiura Kazuya is directing the anime at the Yokohama Animation Lab. It will star Yashiro Taku as Jinta, Ueda Reina as Suzune, and Hayami Saori as Shirayuki.
The anime is based on Nakanishi Motoo’s Kijin Gentoushou light novel series. Futabasha published Nakanishi’s first novel, with illustrations by Tamaki, in June 2019 and released the 14th and final novel in November 2023.
The novels inspired a manga adaptation illustrated by Satomi Yu. Futabasha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in September 2021 and the seventh volume in September 2024. The manga’s eighth volume will be published on March 19th, 2025.
Seven Seas Entertainment publishes both the original novel series and the manga adaptation in English under the name Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho. It will publish the eighth novel in print on February 18th, 2025 and the ninth novel on May 20th, 2025. It will publish the manga’s seventh volume on September 9th, 2025. In the Edo era, young Jinta and his sister must flee their home, finding refuge in a mountain village. Years later, Jinta has grown into a skilled swordsman, sworn to protect the priestess of the village shrine. Charged with slaying a demon that threatens the shrine, Jinta confronts the malevolent creature in the forest, only to learn a shocking truth. The demon speaks of events one hundred and seventy years hence when Jinta must confront the demon in the future. Thus begins an epic fantasy journey that spans multiple eras as Jinta hunts a demon through time and must come to terms with his own dark nature.
