It’s been confirmed that the Hotaru no Yomeiri (Firefly Wedding/ ホタルの嫁入り) manga by Tachibana Oreco has been green-lit for a TV anime adaptation and that it will premiere in October 2026.

The anime’s official website has also confirmed that Kamei Takahiro will direct the anime at David Production studio and that Aikei Yukiko is in charge of character design.

Manga author Tachibana (Promise Cinderella) started the manga in January 2023 on Shogakukan’s Manga ONE platform, and on December 1st, 2025, Tachibana confirmed on their Twitter account that the manga would end in four chapters. The manga’s final chapter, number 79, is scheduled for release on February 2nd, 2026.
Shogakukan published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in June 2023, and the 10th volume on December 19th, 2025.


The manga was nominated in the Best Shojo Manga category of Kodansha’s 48th annual Manga Awards in 2024.
Viz Media and Comikey both release the manga in English under the name Firefly Wedding, Viz Media releases the manga volumes both digitally and in print, while Comikey releases the manga chapters digitally.
Viz Media will publish the manga’s fifth volume on January 27th, 2026, and it describes the manga story below:
“On the surface, Satoko has it all—she’s beautiful, the daughter of a nobleman, and at a prime age for marriage. Unfortunately, she is also quite ill and only has a short time left to live. Before she can secure a marriage that will redeem her worth in her family’s eyes, she finds herself the target of the mysterious assassin Shinpei, and her plans are put in jeopardy. In order to save herself, she makes a desperate proposal—of marriage! When it comes to love, however, Shinpei takes “until death do we part” seriously.”
