Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine published the final chapter of the Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki no Monmon (The Vexations of a Shut-in Vampire Princess) manga by Riichu in the magazine’s fifth issue of 2025, available for sale from April 25th, 2025.
The manga is an adaptation of the light novel series of the same name, written by Kobayashi Kotei and illustrated by Riichu. SB Creative published the original novel series, releasing the first novel in January 2020 and the 13th in March 2024. Yen Press publishes the novel series in English under the name The Vexations of a Shut-in Vampire Princess, and it will release the ninth novel on July 15th, 2025.
Riichu started the manga adaptation of the novel series in December 2021 on Square Enix’s Big Gangan magazine, and Square Enix published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in June 2022 and the third volume in November 2023. The fourth and final volume will be released in the summer of 2025.
The Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki no Monmon manga is released in English by Manga UP! Global, and it describes the story below:
Though she was born into a prestigious vampire family, Terakomari Gandesblood, or Komari, is unable to use magic because she refuses to drink blood. After having chosen the life of a professional shut-in, a maid named Villhaze suddenly appears and informs Komari that she has been chosen as the newest General of the Moolnight Empire’s Seventh Battalion (comprising solely of mutinous ruffians)!
The Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki no Monmon franchise also inspired a TV anime, which premiered in October 2023.
