Shogakukan’s Sunday GX magazine has confirmed that Hiroe Rei’s Black Lagoon (ブラック・ラグーン) manga will return with a new chapter in the magazine’s August 2025 issue, available for sale from July 18th, 2025. The manga will also be featured on the magazine’s cover
Hiroe (341 Sentoudan, Shook Up!) started the manga in 2002 in Shogakukan’s Monthly Sunday GX magazine, and since 2010, the manga has gone on hiatus and returned multiple times. The manga’s last three chapters were released in May 2024, August 2024, and December 2024. Shogakukan published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in December 2002 and the 13th volume in December 2023.
Viz Media releases the manga in English under the Black Lagoon name, and it released the 13th volume in December 2024. It describes the manga’s story below:
“Rokuro Okajima is just an average Japanese salaryman, living an average life. But when he’s taken hostage by the crew of the Black Lagoon, Rokuro finds himself thrown headfirst into a deadly world of outlawed heroes, brutal villains, and blazing gunfights.
