Staff for the Neko to Ryuu (The Cat and the Dragon/ 猫と竜 ) TV anime have announced that the anime will get a second season in 2027.

The first season, directed by Oh Jin-Koo, began on July 4th, 2026 and ended on September 19th, 2026. The anime is available to stream on the Crunchyroll website under the name The Cat and the Dragon, and it describes the anime story below:
“An orphan since hatched, a lone dragon named “Uncle Wings” is taken in by a family of magic-wielding cats and raised as one of their own. As Uncle Wings grows, he becomes the cats’ protector, determined to keep them safe from humans. But as he watches the cats connect with humans using their magic, Uncle Wings slowly starts to warm up to humans in this heartfelt, bittersweet tale.”
The anime is based on Amara’s Neko to Ryuu light novel series. Author Amara started the story in September 2013 on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website, and Takaraijimasha published the first light novel with illustrations by Oukuma Mai in April 2016. The series’s 10th novel was released in August 2026.
Sasaki Izumi adapted the light novels into a manga in September 2017 in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! website, and since April 2020, the manga has also been serialised on the Manga Box website. Takaraijimasha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in January 2018 and the 13th volume in July 2026.
