Staff for the Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Оuota-kun (顔に出ない柏田さんと顔に出る太田君 /Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota) TV anime have released a new promotional video and visual. It has also been confirmed that the anime will premiere on Japanese TV on October 4th, 2025, on the Tokyo MX channel.

The anime’s first episode had an early debut at Anime Expo 2025 on July 3rd, 2025. Kamitani Tomohiro directs the anime at STUDIO POLON, and the anime stars:
- Fujita Akane as Kashiwasa-san
- Natsume Kyouhei as Outa-kun
- Hirose Yuuya as Tadakoro-kun
- Horikane Souhei as Sata-kun
- Hanamori Yumiru as Tabuchi-san
- Mineda Mayu as Odajima-san
The anime is an adaptation of Azuma Fuyu’s Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Оuota-kun manga series. Azuma started the manga in July 2018 on Kadokawa’s Dra Dra Sharp website, and Kadokawa published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in December 2018. The manga’s 10th and final volume was released in July 2023.
The manga is published in English by BookWalker Global and MangaPlaza under the name Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota, and they describe the story below:
“Kashiwada is a girl who never shows emotions on her face. Oota always tries to surprise her…but never succeeds. Kashiwada and Oota are classmates at a junior high school. Oota is always thinking of pranks to surprise Kashiwada, but he always fails. Kashiwada likes to look at Oota, for he shows his emotions on his face too much. They look like opposite types of people, but they both care about each other.“Look, Oota is up to something…” Other classmates love to see the unique relationship between them.”
Azuma also created a side story for the manga, titled Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Outa-kun+ (顔に出ない柏田さんと顔に出る太田君＋), in October 2023 on Kadokawa’s Dra Dra Sharp website. Kadokawa published the manga’s first volume in May 2024 and the second volume in April 2025.
