Author Gyokuro started the original story in December 2018 on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website, and TO Books published the first novel, with illustrations by Eda, in August 2020. The second novel was released in November 2020.
Manga creator Himeno adapted the light novel story into a manga in April 2020 on Square Enix’s Manga UP! platform. Square Enix published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in September 2020 and the fifth volume in January 2023.
Square Enix’s Manga UP! service releases the manga chapters in English under the name I’m Not Even an NPC In This Otome Game!, and it describes the story below:
“Taichi was reincarnated as Isaac, an apprentice gardener in the world of an otome game. But, looking back, Isaac wasn’t even part of the game… This is the story of the interweaving lives of the Duke’s daughter, Lydia, and a boy who isn’t even an NPC.”
