The October 2025 issue of Akita Shoten’s Monthly Shonen Champion magazine has confirmed that the Crows Gaiden Housenka: The Beginning of Housen (クローズ外伝 鳳仙花 the beginning of HOUSEN) manga by Saitou Shuuhei will end in two chapters.
The manga is a spinoff of Takahashi Hiroshi’s Crows (クローズ) manga. The original Crows manga ran from 1990 to 1998, and Akita Publishing released a total of 26 tankoubon volumes. The manga inspired several live-action films, an OVA and several manga sequels and spin-offs based on the original manga and its live-action films.
Saito started the spinoff Crows Gaiden Housenka: The Beginning of Housen manga in November 2017 in Akita Shoten’s Monthly Shonen Champion magazine, and Akita Shoten published the manga’s first volume in February 2018. The manga’s 22nd volume was released in June 2025, and the 23rd volume is scheduled for release on October 8th, 2025.
The spinoff manga follows Terakado Butta. This is the story of how, under his leadership, Housen became the powerhouse that would become Suzuran High School’s greatest opponent. Butta was there the year the school was founded, and without him, we would have never had the Housen Hitman we know and fear today.
