Akita Publishing’s Monthly Shounen Champion magazine has confirmed that Oda Douma will start a spinoff manga based on Urushibara Yura’s Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood manga. The spinoff manga titled Tougen Anki Gaiden: Tsuki to Sakura no Kyousou Kyoku will start serialisation in the magazine’s July 2025 issue, which will be available for sale from June 6th, 2025.
Urushibara started the Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood manga in June 2020 in Akita Publishing’s Weekly Shounen Champion magazine, and Akita Publishing released the manga’s first tankoubon volume in October 2020. The manga’s 23rd volume was released on April 8th, 2025.
Yen Press publishes the manga in English under the name Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood, and it will release the third volume on June 17th, 2025 and the fourth volume on October 28th, 2025. Yen Press describes the original manga below:
Shiki Ichinose would have never guessed his adoptive father used to be an Oni-hunting Momotarou, much less that the old man walked away from that life just to raise him despite Shiki’s dangerous Oni blood. After seeing the only parent he ever knew murdered by a Momotarou assassin, Shiki’s blood awakens. Thrust into an ancient conflict between Oni and Momotarou, Shiki will fight to survive, to take his revenge—and to hold back the calamity coursing through his veins…
The Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood manga will also get a TV anime adaptation, which will premiere in July 2025. The anime will be directed by Nonaka Ato at Studio Hibari.
