Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine has confirmed that Kitaumi Tsuna’s Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Koritsu-hen (魔法科高校の劣等生 孤立編 /The Irregular at Magic High School: Isolation) manga will end in the magazine’s August 2025 issue, available for sale from July 18th, 2025.
The manga is an adaptation of the 23rd novel of Satou Tsutomu’s Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at Magic High School) light novel series. The original novel series by Tsutomu and illustrator Ishida Kana started in 2008 and ended in September 2020 with its 32nd novel. The 23rd novel in the series was released in September 2017.
Kitaumi started the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Koritsu-hen manga adaptation in February 2023 in Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine, and Square Enix published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in November 2023 and the second in September 2024.
Yen Press publishes the original novel series in English under the name The Irregular at Magic High School, and it will release the 25th novel on July 15th, 2025.
The novel series has inspired various manga adaptations, spinoffs and sequels. The most recent manga adaptation was launched by Takeda Hazumi. Takeda launched a manga adaptation of the 26th novel in the Mahouka Koukou no Rettouse light novel series. The new manga, titled Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Invasion-he (The Irregular at Magic High School: Invasion Arc), started serialisation in Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine in May 2025.
The novels have also received a TV anime adaptation, titled The Irregular at Magic High School, which premiered in April 2014. It was followed by a second season in October 2020 and a third season in April 2024. The franchise also inspired an anime film in June 2017, titled The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars.
