Kaneda Yousuke’s Kuroneko to Majo no Kyoushitsu (The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch/ 黒猫と魔女の教室 ) manga has been green-lit for a TV anime adaptation, which will premiere in 2026. The official website for the anime has revealed a teaser promotional video, a teaser visual and the main cast members.

Manga author Kaneda also released an illustration in celebration of the anime news.

Tatsuwa Naoyuki is directing the anime at LINDEN FILMS, and the anime will star Hondo Kaede as Spica Virgo and Shimazaki Nobunaga as Claude Sirirus. The anime’s official website describes the anime story below:
“Witch apprentice, Spica Virgo can’t use magic at all. To earn a place in the magic school she dreams of entering, she needs a mentor-but she has neither money nor connections. One day, a mysterious black cat who speaks and wields magic appears before her! Spica wants to master sorcery, and the black cat longs to break a curse. The pair’s goals align. Thus begins their secret master-apprentice pact! And the key to breaking the curse is a kiss on the…?!
Kaneda (Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet) began publishing the manga in March 2022 on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket manga app, and Kodansha released the manga’s first tankoubon volume in July 2022. The manga’s 12th volume is scheduled for release on August 7, 2025. The manga chapters are released in English under the name The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch on the KManga app.
