Kodansha released the sixth and final tankoubon volume of the Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai (The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master /烏は主を選ばない ) manga by Matsuzaki Natsumi on March 23rd, 2026.
Matsuzaki started the manga in May 2020, and Kodansha published the manga’s first volume in February 2021 and the fifth volume in February 2024.
The manga is an adaptation of the Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai light novel by Abe Chisato, which was published by Bungeishunju in July 2013. The story is set in Yamauchi, a world ruled by the Yatagarasu, where a power struggle is unfolding over the position of the heir apparent and who will become the next ruler. Can the dim-witted boy Yukiya, who is forcibly dragged into the imperial court by the foolish young prince who has seized the position of heir ahead of his clever older brother, survive in a court teeming with intrigue and assassins…?
In April 2024, the Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai novel was also adapated into a TV anime, which can be streamed on the Crunchyroll website under the name YATAGARASU: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master. Crunchyroll describes the anime below:

The Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai novel is a sequel to Abe’s Karasu ni Hitoe wa Niawanai (烏に単は似合わない ) novel, released in June 2012. The Karasu ni Hitoe wa Niawanai novel was also adapated into a manga with the same name by Matsuzaki from June 2018 to April 2020, and Kodansha published four manga volumes in total.
