Kadokawa has confirmed that Minamino Umikaze’s Majutsu-shi Kunon wa Mieteiru (Kunon the Sorcerer Can See Through) light novel series has been green-lit for a TV anime adaptation. The novel illustrator, Laruha, and the manga adaptation artist, La-na, have posted illustrations to celebrate the news.

Minamino (Kyouran Reijou Nia Liston) started the ongoing story on the Shoutsuka ni Narou website in August 2021. In March 2022, Kadokawa published the first novel, with illustrations by Laruha (Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi), and it released the sixth novel in August 2024. The series’ seventh novel will be released on March 10th, 2025.

In April 2022, La-na (Crow Record: Infinite Dendrogram Another) adapted the series into a manga for Kadokawa’s Comic Alive magazine. Kadokawa published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in November 2022 and the fifth volume in November 2024.

The novel series is released in English by Yen Press under the title Kunon the Sorcerer Can See Through, and it will publish its fourth novel on April 15th, 2025. The story is described below:

Born blind, Kunon aims to be the first person to use water magic to create new eyes for himself. After five months of study, he has already surpassed his teacher and continues to grow his talents. Not only can his magic help him sense color, but he can also use it to make handy items and even conjure a whole cat! Word of his skills and ingenuity soon reached the court and earned him a spot as a disciple to the most powerful magician in the land. But is his ultimate goal even attainable?
