Pony Canyon has released a new promotional video for the anime of Okamoto Sae’s Mecha-Ude (Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms) project. It also confirmed that the anime, which premieres on October 3rd, 2024, will be streamed by Crunchyroll as it airs worldwide, except in Asia and South Asia. Aniplus will stream the Mecha-Ude anime in Korea, and Aniplus VOD will stream it in Taiwan, Macau, and Hong Kong. Aniplus TV and Bilibili will stream the anime in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand.

Okamoto is the show’s original creator and is directing the anime at TriF Studio. Other staff members include Nakanishi Yasuhiro, who oversees the series scripts; Nishii Terumi and Uchida Yoko, as the character designers; Nurikabe as the concept artist; Kawamura Shota as the 3DCG director; and Takadera Takeshi as the sound director. Matsuyama Hiroshi from CyberConnect2 is the general supervisor, Asou Shuuichi from TriF Studio is the animation producer, and Kinoshita Tetsuya from Pony Canyon is the producer. Sawano Hiroyuki, Yamamoto Kohta, and DAIKI from AWSM are in charge of composing the music.

Pony Canyon announced that the project would get a full anime series in September 2022, and Anime Expo hosted the world premiere of the anime’s first episode in July 2023.

In September 2022, Koyoka Yoshino started a manga adaptation of Mecha-Ude on the LINE Manga and ebookjapan services. The manga’s first tankoubon volume was published in October 2023, and the latest volume, number 5, was released on September 27th, 2024. The manga is released in English by Azuki under the title Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms.

Hikaru Amatsuga is a middle school student who lives in Kita-Kagami City. One day, he hears cries for help and finds a mechanical lifeform in the shape of an arm named Alma. Before he knew it, Alma ended up connecting (deriding) to his hoodie. Hikaru is unable to abandon Alma, so the two end up working together. But then, a mysterious Mecha-Ude user confronts them.
