MAPPA has revealed a new trailer for the Gekijouban Chainsaw Man Reze-hen (Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc/ 劇場版チェンソーマン レゼ篇) anime film. It has also revealed the film’s theme song as IRIS OUT by Yunezu Kenshi.

The film, directed by Yoshihara Tatsuya at MAPPA studios, will premiere in theatres in Japan on September 19th, 2025. Sony Pictures Entertainment will release the film on September 24th, in more than 80 countries and on October 29th, in the United States and the United Kingdom.
MAPPA describes the film’s story below:
“Denji became Chainsaw Man, a boy with a devil’s heart, and is now part of Special Division 4’s devil hunters. After a date with Makima, the woman of his dreams, Denji takes shelter from the rain. There he meets Reze, a girl who works in a café.”
The film is based on Fujimoto Tatsuki’s Chainsaw Man (チェンソーマン) manga. Fujimoto (Fire Punch) started the manga’s first part in December 2018 on Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, and the manga’s second part started in July 2022 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service. Shueisha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in March 2019 and the 21st volume on July 4th, 2025.
The Chainsaw Man manga won the Best Manga award at the Harvey Awards for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023, and in October 2022, it was adapted into a TV anime. The anime’s 12 episodes can be streamed on Crunchyroll, and the company describes the anime’s story below:
“Denji is a young boy who works as a Devil Hunter with the “Chainsaw Devil” Pochita. One day, as he was living his miserable life trying to pay off the debt he inherited from his parents, he was betrayed and killed. As he was losing his consciousness, he made a deal with Pochita and got resurrected as the “Chainsaw Man”: the owner of the Devil’s heart.”
