The final chapter of the first part of the Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Naijan, Muri Muri! Muri Janakatta!? (わたしが恋人になれるわけないじゃん、ムリムリ! (※ムリじゃなかった!?) /There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless…) manga by Musshu was released on July 31st, 2026, on Shueisha’s Young Jump+ platform. The manga’s 10th tankoubon volume will be released in December 2026, and the final volume is scheduled for release in 2027.
Manga artist Kudou Eru announced on August 16th, 2026, that they will draw the second part of the manga, titled Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Naijan, Muri Muri! Muri Janakatta!? ~Second season, which will launch early in 2027.

The manga is an adaptation of the Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Naijan, Muri Muri! Muri Janakatta!? yuri light novel series by Mikami Teren and Takushima Eku. Author Mikami and illustrator Takushima released the first novel in the series in February 2020 under Shueisha’s Dash X Bunko label and the ninth novel in August 2025.
Musshu (Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku) adapted the story into manga in May 2020, which was posted on Shueisha’s Dash X Comic section of the Nico Nico Seiga website. Shueisha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in October 2020 and the ninth volume in May 2026.
Seven Seas Entertainment releases both the novel series and manga adaptation in English under the name There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless…. It will release its eighth novel on August 18th, 2026, and the manga’s ninth volume on February 23rd, 2027. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the story below:
