Staff for the Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube (地獄先生ぬ~べ~) TV anime have revealed a new trailer and the main visual for the show. The anime will premiere its first two episodes on July 2nd, 2025, on TV Asahi.

The anime’s story is described by the show’s staff below:

“A number of inexplicable phenomena have been plaguing the town of Domori. In order to protect the town’s children, a new homeroom teacher known as “Nube” arrives. Normally gentle and a bit outgoing, Nube has a secret side: he is, in fact, the only psychic teacher in Japan. Rumor also has it his left hand is possessed by a demon! Hell’s messenger of justice is here to take on the school’s seven mysteries, ghosts, and evil spirits attacking his students. This occultist action story starts now!”

The anime will air in two split cours (quarters of a year), with the second cours premiering in January 2026. Ouishi Yasuyuki is directing the anime at Studio KAI, and the anime will star:

The anime is based on the Jigoku Sensei Nube manga by Makura Shou and Okano Takeshi. The manga was serialised from 1993 to 1999 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump magazine, and Shueisha published a total of 31 tankoubon volumes. The manga was later re-released by Shueisha in a total of 20 volumes, from January 2006 to November 2006.

Makura and Okano serialised a sequel manga titled Jigoku Sensei Nube Neo from May 2014 to December 2018, and Shueisha released a total of 17 volumes for the manga. Makura and Okano also released a one-shot manga in April 2014 titled Jigoku Sensei Nube: Oumagatoki, and a spinoff manga titled Jigoku Sensei Nube S in 2018.

The franchise also includes the spinoff Reibaishi Izuna manga and its sequel, Reibaishi Izuna Ascension, both created by Makura and Okano. The Reibaishi Izuna manga ran from 2008 to 2011, and Shueisha released a total of 10 volumes. The sequel, Reibaishi Izuna Ascension, ran from 2008 to 2016, and Shueisha released a further 10 volumes.

The original manga also inspired a TV anime in 1996, a video anime series in 1998, and three anime films between 1996 and 1997, as well as a live-action series in 2014.
