The Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku. (Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess) light novel series by author Shiki and illustrator Hachipisu Wan has been green-lit for a TV anime adaptation. The anime’s official website also confirmed that Yamamoto Junichi is directing the anime at Ashi Production studios and that it will premiere in 2026.
AlphaPolis published Shiki’s novel in two parts with illustrations by Hachipisu, the first part in May 2017 and the second in September 2017. The novel series is released digitally in English by Hanashi Media under the name Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess. It released the first novel in July 2024 and the second novel in February 2025.

Exceptionally gifted to his own detriment, Prince Cecil had always found life effortlessly mundane. One ordinary day, his life took an unexpected turn when he became engaged to Miss Bertia, the Chancellor’s daughter. This engagement, however, was anything but typical. “Prince Cecil! I must confess – I am the villain of this story!” Bertia’s declaration was startling. She claimed to have memories of her former life, where she had been the antagonist in an “Otome game”. Her lofty ambition was to excel as a villainess and thus have her engagement annulled. However, despite her plans for various misdeeds, her attempts have always been unsuccessful. Is her fiancé, who aspires to master villainous finesse, simply misguided in his endeavours?
The novel series was adapted into a manga by Hasumi Natsune in May 2018 on the AlphaPolis Web Manga website, and Alphapolis published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in December 2018, and the sixth and final volume in September 2021. The manga is released in English on the Alpha Manga website under the name An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess.
Shiki started a sequel novel series titled Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Tsuma no Kansatsu Kiroku. (An Observation Log of My Wife Who Calls Herself a Villainess) and AlphaPolis published the first novel with illustrations by Hachipisu in April 2022. The sequel’s fifth novel will be released on May 23rd, 2025.
Hasumi also adapted the sequel novel series into a manga in March 2022, and Alphapolis published the manga’s first volume in October 2022. The manga’s third volume will be released on May 23rd, 2025. The manga is released in English on the Alpha Manga website under the name An Observation Log of My Wife Who Calls Herself a Villainess.
