Staff for the Futsutsuka na Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga – Suuguu Chouso Torikae Den (Though I Am an Inept Villainess/ ふつつかな悪女ではございますが 〜雛宮蝶鼠とりかえ伝〜) TV anime have revealed the first full promotional video for the show and confirmed that it will air on TV Tokyo and its affiliated channels. The anime was initially set to premiere in April 2026, but it has been delayed to July 2026.

Yamazaki Mitsue is directing the anime at Douga Koubou studios, and the anime will star Iwami Manaka as Kao Reirin and Kawaida Natsumi as Shu Keigetsu.

- Hishkawa Hana as Riirii
- Nikray Farahnaz as Ko Tosetsu
The anime is based on the Futsutsuka na Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga – Suuguu Chouso Torikae Den light novel series by Nakamura Satsuki and Yuki Kana. Ichijinsha published Nakamura’s first novel with illustrations by Yuki in December 2020, and it will release the 12th novel on March 31st, 2026.
The novel series was adapted into a manga by Ohitsuji Ei on Ichijinsha’s Monthly Comic Zero-Sum magazine in December 2020. The manga’s first tankoubon volume was released in June 2021, and the manga’s 10th volume is scheduled for release on March 31st, 2026.
Seven Seas Entertainment publishes both the novel series and its manga adaptation in English under the name Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court. It will release the 10th novel in the series on May 5th, 2026 and the manga’s ninth volume on August 4th, 2026.
