Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Gene magazine confirmed that Manga creator Makimayo will start a manga adaptation of Kisaki Chiaki’s DOPE Mayaku Torishimari-bu Tokusouka (DOPE麻薬取締部特捜課 / DOPE Narcotics Control Department Special Investigations) novel. The manga will start serialisation in the magazine’s August 2025 issue, available for sale from July 15th, 2025.
Kadokawa published Kisaki’s DOPE Mayaku Torishimari-bu Tokusouka crime novel in August 2022 with illustrations by Ogata Tomio, and it will release another novel in the series on July 25th, 2025, titled DOPE: Another Venom (DOPE麻薬取締部特捜課 アナザー・ヴェノム).
Kadokawa describes the novel’s story below:
“In the near future, Japan is in circulation with a new drug called DOPE that significantly increases the abilities of those who take it. Saiki Yuto, who has a sharper sixth sense than most people and the ability to predict the future, is transferred to the Special Investigations Division of the Narcotics Control Department because of his abilities. There, he is introduced to a trainer called Jinnai Teppei, an unconventional man who gives the worst first impression. These two polar opposites team up to solve a suspicious case caused by a person with special powers called DOPE.”
The novel is also being adapted into a live-action TV series, which will premiere in Japan on the TBS channel on July 4th, 2025.
