The 3-Nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei novels are set in Gintama High School and follow the school’s teacher, Ginpachi Sakata, and his students. Oosaki’s novel series was first published in 2006, and Shueisha published the latest novel in December 2024. The series will get a new novel on October 3rd, 2025, titled Oide yo Rinkan Gakkou (Going on a School Camp).
The novel series by Oosaki is a spinoff of Sorachi Hideaki’s Gintama (銀魂 ) manga. The original Gintama manga started serialisation in 2003 and ended in June 2019. Shueisha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in April 2004 and the 77th and final volume in August 2019.
Viz Media has published the first 23 manga volumes of the original Gintama manga in English, under the name Gin Tama. The original manga inspired several anime series, three anime films, two live-action films, and two live-action spin-offs.
The 3-Nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei (銀魂 3年Z組銀八先生 ) light novel series has inspired an anime adaptation directed by Higashida Natsumi at BN Pictures. The anime will premiere on October 6th, 2025, at midnight (effectively October 7th) on TV Tokyo and its affiliated channels.
