Staff for the Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku (Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess/ 自称悪役令嬢な婚約者の観察記録。) TV anime has revealed the names of the two main cast members and new screenshots from the anime.

The anime is scheduled for release in 2026, and it is directed by Yamamoto Junichi at Ashi Production studios. As confirmed this week, the anime will star Kobayashi Yuusuke as Cecil and Tomita Miyu as Bertia.
The anime is based on the Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku light novel series by author Shiki. AlphaPolis published Shiki’s novel in two parts with illustrations by Hachipisu Wan, the first part in May 2017 and the second in September 2017.
The novel series is released digitally in English by Hanashi Media under the name Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess. It released the first novel in July 2024 and the second novel in February 2025.

“Exceptionally gifted to his own detriment, Prince Cecil had always found life effortlessly mundane. One ordinary day, his life took an unexpected turn when he became engaged to Miss Bertia, the Chancellor’s daughter. This engagement, however, was anything but typical. “Prince Cecil! I must confess – I am the villain of this story!” Bertia’s declaration was startling.
She claimed to have memories of her former life, where she had been the antagonist in an “Otome game”. Her lofty ambition was to excel as a villainess and thus have her engagement annulled. However, despite her plans for various misdeeds, her attempts have always been unsuccessful. Is her fiancé, who aspires to master villainous finesse, simply misguided in his endeavours?”
Shiki started a sequel novel series titled Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Tsuma no Kansatsu Kiroku (An Observation Log of My Wife Who Calls Herself a Villainess/ 自称悪役令嬢な妻の観察記録。) and AlphaPolis published the first novel with illustrations by Hachipisu in April 2022 and the fifth novel in May 2025.
Both the original novel series and its sequel have been adapted into a manga. The original Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku novel series was adapted into a manga by Hasumi Natsune in May 2018 on the AlphaPolis Web Manga website. Alphapolis published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in December 2018, and the sixth and final volume in September 2021.
Hasumi then adapted the sequel novel series, Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Tsuma no Kansatsu Kiroku, into a manga in March 2022 on the AlphaPolis Web Manga website. Alphapolis released the manga’s first volume in October 2022 and the third volume in May 2025.
