Happinet has revealed the second promotional video for the Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu (A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace/ 笑顔のたえない職場です。) TV anime, as well as the streaming details for the show. The anime is scheduled to debut on October 6th, 2025, on the AT-X, Tokyo MX and BS Asahi channels.

The anime will be available to stream in Japan from October 6th at 10:30 p.m. on the DMM TV, Lemino, U-NEXT, Anime Times and Anime Hodai services.

Suzuki Kaoro is directing the anime at Voil studio, and the anime will star Natsuyoshi Yuuko as Nana Futami, Amamiya Sora as Kaede Satou, and Itou Miku as Muzuki Hazama.

The anime is an adaptation of Kuzushiro’s Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu manga. The manga was first published in February 2019 as a one-shot in Kodansha’s Kiss magazine. Kuzushiro (Amayo no Tsuki, Inu & Neko, Ani no Yome to Kurashiteimasu) began serialising the manga in May 2019 in Kondansha’s Comic Days app and website, and Kodansha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in December 2019. The manga’s 13th volume is scheduled for release on September 19th, 2025.

The story follows Futami. She is a rookie shojo manga artist, and with the help of her cool editor and reliable assistants, she has finally been able to start serialising her long-awaited shogi manga “Subaru e”.

Unfortunately, she has stomach problems from stress, the chapter deadlines are near, and she can’t make progress on the storyboard. She ends up munching on her desk until late at night, gains weight from eating, and her bad fantasies won’t stop…
