The R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos game will go on sale in the fall of 2024. The news was announced by game developer Granzella on its YouTube channel last week.
The game will be available for PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Initially, the game was set for release in the Summer of 2023. However, it was delayed by Granzella to 2024.

The first game in the series, R-Type, was published in 1987. The R-Type Final I was released in 2003 for PlayStation 2, and the R-Type Tactics and R-Type Tactics II went on sale in 2007 and 2009, respectively. Tozai Games then launched R-Type Dimensions, a compilation of the first two R-Type games, on PC via Steam in November 2018.
Granzella released the R-Type Final 2 sequel game for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC via Steam worldwide in April 2021, and publisher NIS America released the R-Type Final Evolve game for Playstation 5 in North America and Europe in April 2023.
