Kadokawa’s Comic Newtype online magazine has announced that the Shimai Youhei (Mercenary Sisters/姉妹傭兵) novel by Ghost Mikawa will be adapated into a manga by artist Ka Sakana on July 21st, 2026.
Ghost Mikawa (Gimai Seikatsu, Tomodachi no Imouto ga Ore ni Dake Uzai) started the story on the Kakuyomu website in June 2025, and Kadokawa published the novel in print with illustrations by Kappe in July 2025.
The story follows Rinko Izumi, a seventeen-year-old rokie mercenary. Rinko applied to a private military company on a whim, thinking it would be a part-time job, and was thrown into a foreign conflict zone with veteran mercenary Mizusaki Nagisa.
In a land with no sense of direction, a different language and culture, Rinko learns everything from how to shoot a gun and open rations to how to maintain distance from others, learning to live this new life from Mizusaki, her new sister.
