Netflix has revealed the first teaser trailer for The One Piece (ザワンピース) anime remake by Wit Studio, and it revealed that Tanaka Mayumi will reprise her role as Monkey D. Luffy. Staff for the anime also revealed a new artwork for the first episode titled Romance Dawn.

It was announced in May 2026 that Netflix would begin streaming all seven episodes of the anime’s first season worldwide in February 2027. The first season will cover the events leading to Luffy’s encounter with Sanji, the sous-chef of the floating restaurant Baratie.
Koizuka Masashi is directing the anime at Wit Studio, and Abe Hideaki is the assistant director. Asano Kyoji and Honda Takatoshi are the character designers and chief animation directors.
The anime is based on the ongoing One Piece (ワンピース) manga created by Oda Eiichiro. Oda began serialising the ongoing manga in July 1997 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump magazine, and Shueisha published the manga’s most recent tankoubon volume, number 114th, in March 2026. The manga’s 115th volume will be released on August 4th, 2026.
The manga has inspired numerous anime movies, manga spinoffs, novels and even a live-action series by Netflix. The live-action series’ third season will be released in 2027. The original and ongoing One Piece anime started in October 1999, and it’s available to watch on the Crunchyroll website. Crunchyroll describes the story below:
