Kadokawa has confirmed that the Demons’ Crest (デモンズ・クレスト) novel series by author Kawahara Reki and illustrator Horiguchi Yukiko has been green-lit for a TV anime adaptation. Horiguchi has released the following illustration in celebration of the anime news. No further information regarding the anime has been revealed yet.

Author Kawahara, best known as the creator of the Sword Art Online novel series, and illustrator Horiguchi released the first Demon’s Crest novel in November 2022, under Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko label. The series’s fourth novel will be released on December 10th, 2025.


The novel series was adapted into a manga by Tomoe and Takano Koroku in November 2022 in the HykeComic manga service, and Kadokawa released the manga’s first tankoubon volume in June 2024

Yen Press releases the novel series in English under the name Demons’ Crest, and it will publish the manga’s third novel on December 20th, 2025. Yen Press describes the novel story below:
“The latest VRMMORPG, Actual Magic, has sealed an entire class of sixth graders in a terrifying game of life or death. Countless dangers await eleven-year-old Yuuma and his friends.
