The September 2026 issue of Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine published the final chapter of the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Invasion-hen (The Irregular at Magic High School: Invasion Arc/魔法科高校の劣等生 インベージョン編 ) manga by Takeda Hazumi.
The manga is an adaptation of the 26th novel of Satou Tsutomu’s Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at Magic High School/魔法科高校の劣等生) light novel series. Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine also announced that Takeda will return for an adaptation of the series 31st novel titled Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Mirai-hen (The Irregular at Magic High School: Future Arc).
The original novel series, written by Tsutomu and illustrated by Ishida Kana, started in 2008 and ended in September 2020 with its 32nd novel. The 26th novel in the series was released in August 2018, and Takeda adapated into a manga in May 2025. Square Enix published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in November 2025 and the second volume in March 2026.
Yen Press publishes the novel series in English under the name The Irregular at Magic High School, and it released the 26th novel in February 2026. Yen Press describes the 26th novel below:
“Parasites are taking over magicians left and right. Several of Lina’s infected teammates make an attempt on her life, but after the rebellion at the Stars’ headquarters, she successfully escapes. Thankfully, Tatsuya and Miyuki can give her refuge on Miyaki, an island controlled by the Yotsuba clan. The light novel series also received a TV anime adaptation in April 2014 titled The Irregular at Magic High School, which was followed by a second season in October 2020 and a third season in April 2024. The franchise also inspired an anime film in June 2017, titled The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars.
