Story Description:

“The story follows Ryusei Narukami, a shut-in who spends his days playing games, but who had once been a Demon King in another world. It also follows Meteor Hanaori, the former hero who defeated him and is now a high school girl. This romantic comedy between a former Demon King and a former Hero is now set to be brought to life as an anime.”

Hikawa’s comment:

“When I first heard that Hanaori-san was going to be turned into an anime, I thought it was a dream—I couldn’t tell it apart from the reality my stress had shown me. It seems that it really is being adapted.

As the author, I am fortunate to be involved in the anime production at such a wonderful distance, and they are creating an anime that preserves the original atmosphere while being fun, amazing, and stylish—so maybe it really is a dream. Let’s meet in a dream, everyone.”

Manga Author Hikawa (Pani Poni, Shin Kankaku Iyashi-kei Mahou Shoujo Behoimi-chan) started the manga in August 2021 in Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine, and Kodansha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in February 2022. The manga’s eighth volume will be released on September 22nd, 2025.
