CRYMACHINA was developed by FuRyu (Unchained Blades) and Aquria (The Caligula Effect), and published by Nippon Ichi Software. A spiritual successor of sorts to CRYSTAR, published also by FuRyu and released in October 2018, the game had three trailers for it revealed so far, as well as the opening animation and two presentations showing gameplay footage.
The game’s story begins with Lebel Distel, a girl on her deathbed while a mysterious disease is ravaging the world. As she begins to fade, a voice tells her she has been “chosen”, and moments later she wakes up in a devastated world, greeted by an android called Enoa. She calls what they are in Eden, a world inhabited only by machines following an imparted order to restore humanity. Thus, she is sent out with androids Mikoto Chigiku and Ami Shito, to venture into the emptiness and find a way to become “real humans”.
Players can switch between Lebel, Mikoto and Ami, and engage in hack-and-slash combat across Eden. They can then return to the home base, the Imitation Garden, to upgrade and customize their weapons and engage in conversations with the other characters.
