This Wednesday, Seven Seas Entertainment announced the licensing of four new manga series in English of particular interest due to their success in Japan.
Meisou Senshi Nagata Kabi: Gourmet de GO!, serialized on Futabasha‘s Web Action platform in February 2021. Written and illustrated by Nagata Kabi, who won the 2018 Harvey Award in the best manga category with My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness, this is the second instalment of the Meisou Senshi Nagata Kabi autobiographical series, depicting her struggles with binge eating and general food habits. It will be released as an e-book exclusive on October 26, followed by a hardback edition of the third installment Suizou ga Kowaretara, Sukoshi Ikiyasuku Narimashita. in November.
Royal Tailor: Oukyuu no Saihoushi, written and illustrated by Nakasane Nowaki and serialized in Ichijinsha‘s Comic Zero Sum in 2021, currently at two volumes. Seven Seas will release the first volume in June 2024. Orphaned girl Hana dreams of designing and making clothes for the many races of her world. But their collective society heavily discriminates against humans, to the point even the priest who takes care of her tries to discourage her from the idea. But things seem to finally change for the better when a prince comes to her with a job offer…
Ameagari no Bokura ni Tsuite, written and illustrated by Rakuta Shoko (Tadareta Koi ni wa Itashimasen!), serialized on Ichishinja‘s Comic POOL platform from August 8, 2019, to August 6, 2020, and collected into two volumes. The first English volume will be released in April 2024. Kanade, an employee for a publishing firm, has been hiding the fact he is gay since high school, and after a failed relationship with a woman, he swears to himself he won’t fall in love another time. Then, on a rainy day, he runs by complete chance into Mashiro, his old high school crush. Mashiro’s clumsy but earnest affection clashes with Kanade’s fear of leaving himself vulnerable… but after six years, it feels as if the rainclouds are finally beginning to part.
Tokyo Revengers: Baji Keisuke Kara no Tegami, the spin-off to Wakui Ken’s Kodansha series, written and illustrated by Natsukawaguchi Yukinori, serialized on Weekly Shounen Magazine and the Magazine Pocket app in July 2022, will receive its fourth volume on October 17. The first English volume will be released in August 2024. The story focuses on Baji Keisuke and Matsuno Chifuyu’s personal history, from their first meeting to their tragic parting during the battle against Valhalla. While Chifuyu is mourning his captain’s death, he suddenly receives a letter he wrote before his death, which brings back memories of their young days together.
