A reliable insider on the Chinese social network Weibo reported this Saturday that an animated adaptation of Kabushiki Gaisha Magilumiere, written by Sekka Iwata (Sekai no Owari no Pen Friend) and illustrated by Yuu Aoki (Ayakashi-kun Katteiru), is currently in the works.

Sekka and Yuu launched the series on Shueisha‘s Shounen Jump+ platform on October 20, 2021; the series has been printed into nine tankoubon volumes as of October 4, 2023. Shueisha‘s Manga PLUS platform distributes the series in English digitally, while Viz Media distributes it under the “Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc” title.

In this world, magical girls are a booming industry, with around 500 companies, big and small, dealing in the business of exterminating the monsters that appeared in Japan years ago. Among them is Magilumiere Co. Ltd, a small company with an informal work environment and a great track record, with a rather unusual and off-beat staff: the sole magical girl under their employment, Koshigaya Hitomi, is fearless and highly competent, but she struggles to handle things on her own. While answering an emergency request, she encounters Sakuragi Kana, an unemployed girl with an astounding memory and a drive for job-searching that borders on obsession. Despite this trait, she has already been turned down by fifteen companies. After successfully managing the request with Kana’s cooperation, Hitomi decides she has finally found the new magical girl her company was looking for.
