Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine released the final chapter of Akimoto Aki’s Kikaijikake no Marie+ (Mechanical Marie+/ 機械じかけのマリー ) manga on December 24th, 2025, and Hakusensha will publish the manga’s second and final tankoubon volume on March 5th, 2026. The Kikaijikake no Marie+ manga is a sequel to the original Kikaijikake no Marie manga by Akimoto.
Manga author Akimoto (Mairimashita to Iwasetai) started the Kikaijikake no Marie manga in March 2020 as a one-shot manga, and from June 2020 to June 2023, the manga was serialised in Hakusensha’s Lala magazine. Hakusensha published the manga’s first tankoubon volume in December 2020 and the sixth and final volume in September 2023.

The sequel manga, Kikaijikake no Marie+, was launched by Akimoto in April 2024 in Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine, and Hakusensha published the manga’s first volume in October 2025.

The Kikaijikake no Marie manga is published in English by Yen Press under the name Mechanical Marie, and it will release the manga’s second volume on February 24th, 2026. Yen Press describes the manga below:
“He was a boy. She was a robot. Well…not really. In all actuality, Marie is completely, totally 100% human, but because her strange new employer seemingly despises humans, the powers-that-be are paying a handsome sum for her to pretend she’s the latest and greatest android while protecting said eccentric master from the seemingly endless attempts on his life. Which is fine, but they forgot to mention one tiny, seemingly insignificant detail-this dude absolutely dotes on inanimate objects like Marie can’t believe. She’s not sure what will kill her first, the assassins or his affections…?”
The original manga was adapted into a TV anime in October 2025, and it can be streamed on the Crunchyroll website under the name Mechanical Marie.
