During the Jump Festa 24 event, a new game in the Ao no Exorcist (Blue Exorcist) franchise was announced for iOS, Android and PC. The game Alterna Welt: Ao no Exorcist Gaiden will be released in the summer of 2024.

The game is described as a 3D action RPG, with Aniplex as the company responsible for its planning and distribution. Previously a smartphone game was announced by ESPIRIT in 2018, Ao no Exorcist: Damned Chord, but it was subsequently cancelled in November 2020. ESPIRIT announced in 2020 that it had started a new project for a smartphone MMORPG game of the same franchise.
The game is inspired by the anime and the manga created by Katou Kazue (Robo to Usakichi). Katou launched the Ao no Exorcist manga in 2009 in Jump SQ magazine.
The Ao no Exorcist anime, based on the manga, premiered in April 2011 and the second season, Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujou Ou-hen (Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga), debuted in January 2017. The third season, Ao no Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati-hen (Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga), is set to premiere in Japan on January 6th 2024.
