The fifth tankoubon volume of the manga, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Meguri (Higurashi: When They Cry: MEGURI), is listed on Amazon as the final volume in the series. Akase Tomato‘s fifth volume will be published in Japan on March 4th, 2024.
Akase published the manga on Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up service in October 2021. The manga is part of the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou (Higurashi: When They Cry: GOU) franchise, launched in October 2020 and described as a new arc in the series. The final chapter of the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou manga was published in September 2021 in the Young Ace Up service.
The Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou manga inspired a 24-episode TV anime series that premiered in October 2020 and a follow-up TV anime titled Higurashi no Naku Koro ni – SOTSU (Higurashi: When They Cry – SOTSU), which premiered in July 2021.
